the circular image work series IMAGINAL DISC came together step by step over a rather long process of work. first i’ve been playing around with iterating colored squares, like every code artist will probably do at one point. next i kept refining the iteration structure and its swatches until i got to a point where i wanted to work with input data, out of which the image itself will be build. i started out using a pixel sorting algorithms to split up image data, received from a selction of photographies. after another year or two, the idea to make it circular suddenly seemed to take shape! i did different testings and was quite impressed already by the first results.
